The real reason this drawing is so important to me is because it shows Molly. Molly passed away just shy of Thanksgiving after being with our family for almost 16 years. To put that into perspective Molly was a Christmas present when I was a girl and now I am married and have a child of my own. We grew up together. She was technically a dog, but had more personality than many people, and was a definite member of our family.
I love this drawing so much not because it is a picture of a dog. Not even that it is a picture of a West White Highland Terrier. I love it because it is a picture of Molly, that specific little being who is much loved and much missed.

She looks happy :), well loved and cute :) I find my favourite memory aides are those I draw- because there is so much more in the picture then- my attention gives the picture more meaning to me :)
I hope your picture gives you pleasure and happy memories!
Congratulations on finishing your first Moleskine. Mine took a while as well. I will go and have a look now at it. Haven't looked at it in a while.
lots of love from susan in australia
Ahhhhhh, I know she will be missed, but you have wonderful memories to keep. Lovely sketch.
A drawing is worth so much more than a photo in my opinion - and you have really captured her character. A fitting memorial to a special friend.
First time here, and enjoyed my visit a lot... especially your beautifully rendered pear header, Chloe's sunglasses, and your work dedicated to the memory of your beloved Molly. They all show sensitivity, a delicate touch, and a strong sense of design. Look forward to more visits.
My heart goes out to you. What a sweet animal! And you're right. Some animal DO have more personality that people. I know full well how empty that feeling is. Your drawing is a nice tribute to her.
I'm so sorry for your loss. I had this happen a few years back. I was devastated. But, I do still have a few sketches I can look back on. The pictures that I have don't convey the gestures that I would see everyday, not like the sketches do. And this is a wonderful sketch.
She must have been a big part of your life as most dogs are. a beautiful portrait of her!
I've just lost my cat and I know what you mean... Molly looks adorable, your drawing is wonderful. Love her pose and cute expressive eyes.
I love your drawing of Molly. It really shows her personality and the love you have for her. This is my first visit here and I enjoyed seeing all of your drawings. I hope to see more :-)
There's a Molly-shaped hole in your heart, but your drawing of her is wonderful. I'm so sorry for your loss - pets are definitely part of the family and are sorely missed when they're gone. nancy
